Bus-Style Taxi Route T801 (Dashe Line) Extended to Dashe District, Begins Operations on September 2
In response to feedback from residents of Dashe District, Kaohsiung City, regarding insufficient public transportation services in certain areas, the Transportation Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government, in collaboration with the Dashe District Office, held multiple discussions with local residents to understand their needs. As a result, the bus-style taxi service T801 (Dashe Line) was launched, running from the Sunshine Land Community through Dashe Fruit and Vegetable Market, Dashe District Office, Nanzih Railway Station, Jianren Hospital, and ending at the MRT Metropolitan Park Station. The service operates on weekdays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM and was officially launched on September 2.
Since 2014, in response to the needs of various administrative districts, the Transportation Bureau pioneered the bus-style taxi service, initially replacing some bus services on select routes and in areas with lower operational efficiency. Later, new routes were added to serve areas with lower population density. While filling the gaps left by bus services, this initiative also helped reduce government subsidy expenditures. With the launch of the T801, the bus-style taxi service now covers 34 administrative districts, with a total of 49 routes, serving over 16,000 passengers each month.
Ms. Chang from the Sunshine Land Community praised how much more convenient life has become with the bus-style taxi service, saying, "Now my mother can take the T801 to go to her doctor’s appointments, do her shopping, and go out for walks without needing to ride a scooter. I can go to work with peace of mind."
The Transportation Bureau reminds the public that bus-style taxis operate as taxi services, with the vehicles clearly marked with the route number and name. These taxis do not operate like regular buses, but passengers still need to wait at bus stops according to the schedule. When a vehicle approaches, passengers should signal the driver by waving, similar to boarding a bus. The public can use the Kaohsiung iBUS App or visit the Kaohsiung Public Bus Real-time Information website (https://ibus.tbkc.gov.tw/ibus) to check public taxi routes and real-time locations, making it both time-saving and convenient.
