The number of intersections equipped with leading pedestrian intervals and pedestrian-exclusive signal phases has surpassed 1,200, accounting for approximately 60% of all intersections with pedestrian signals citywide. These measures effectively reduce pedestrian–vehicle conflicts and make street crossings safer for pedestrians!
To alleviate local parking demand, following a councilor’s recommendation, the City Government collaborated with the Political Warfare Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense to utilize a site at the intersection of Dayi 2nd Road and Renshou Road in Gangshan District for the establishment of the Yishe Gangshan Dayi Parking Lot, providing 106 parking spaces for small vehicles.
To increase the parking supply around the tourism and recreational facilities of the Chengcing Lake Scenic Area, the former Heping Campground at the Youth Activity Center was converted into a public parking lot for passenger vehicles. The parking lot provides 33 parking spaces, helping alleviate parking difficulties for visitors to the scenic area.
Through an agreement with the National Property Administration, Ministry of Finance, the existing Dachang Public Parking Lot was expanded to put idle land to effective use and increase the parking supply in the area. The expanded parking lot was completed and opened to the public on December 1, 2025, providing 15 additional parking spaces for small vehicles.
The Transportation Bureau’s “Integration of AI and Dynamic Traffic Signal Technologies—Kaohsiung Metropolitan Area Intelligent Traffic Signal Implementation Project” received the “2025 ITS Taiwan Industry Innovation Award” presented by the Intelligent Transportation Society of Taiwan (ITS Taiwan). This recognition affirms Kaohsiung’s sustained investment and technological innovation in intelligent transportation and marks a significant milestone in the city’s progress toward becoming a smart city.
