    Expanded Accessible Transport Service Content A. To upgrade the quality of bus service and create an accessible and friendly transportation environment, the Bureau has introduced 601 large and medium low-floor and barrier-free buses running routes that pass by hospitals and special education schools for the disabled. B. Having acquired rehabilitation buses actively and with donations from all sectors, the City’s rehab bus fleet has grown to 156 vehicles, providing flexible and convenient transportation for people with disabilities. The Bureau has cooperated with Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital on May 22, 2020 and E-Da Hospital on September 21, 2020 to launch the “medical fast track” service; Yuan’s General Hospital joined the rank of “medical fast track” service in January 2021 and Ta-Tung Hospital, Min-Sheng Hospital, Siaogang Hospital, and Cijin Hospital in February 2021. The service has shown distinguished results by saving 30 minutes of outpatient consultation time on average for citizens who take the rehab bus to the hospitals.

    Smartphone APP “Kaohsiung iBus APP” for real-time bus information, which includes “i-Bus” routes information, “Trip Planner”, “Public Service” information, “Bus Arrival Reminder”, “My Favorite”, “Taxi-type Bus Service”. There is also a “LRT Status” section for inquiries about location of LRT stations, LRT route map, train schedule, and instant updates.

    To boost the promotion of low-carbon, green bus in pursuit of the City’s sustainable development, the Bureau has actively assisted bus operators in getting the central government’s subsidies for replacing old buses with electric buses after launching the first electric bus fleet in Taiwan for the Cishan-Meinong Express Bus service in 2013. By the end of January 2022, the number of the City’s electric buses has reached 194, which accounts for 19.4% of all buses in the City. Expectedly, the percentage of electric buses in the City will go up to 60% in 2025, which is in line with Executive Yuan’s policy goal of full implementation of electric buses by 2030.

    Kaohsiung Smart Transportation QR Code Kaohsiung is the first in the country to implement the QR Code mobile payment riding code function. The general public in this city can board buses with a simple beep using iPass, Easy Wallet or ICash PAY. Since 2021, Kaohsiung City's buses have been equipped with a full suite of amenities, including e-bus GPS tracking systems , overhead displays, ticket inspection machines and in-car station broadcasts,. To ensure the reliability of real-time bus data, the driver only needs to enter the route code before starting duty to finalize all the settings, thereby reducing the driver's workload, decreasing the number of input errors, and ensuring the accuracy of real-time bus information.
