【Kaohsiung News】
To mark the inaugural World Public Transport Day on April 17, 2026, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has launched an enhanced promotional campaign titled “Go Green, Reduce Carbon, Earn Rewards.” The initiative encourages the public to replace private vehicle use with public transportation, transforming daily commutes into tangible carbon reduction actions while offering opportunities to enter prize draws (including high-value rewards such as a steam garment care system worth over NT$10,000). The campaign runs from now through May 31, inviting citizens to contribute to urban sustainability.
The Transportation Bureau stated that during the campaign period, MeNGo members who purchase a Kaohsiung TPASS periodic pass (including NT$999, NT$399, and NT$199 plans) and utilize public transportation services—such as Taiwan Railway Corporation, Ltd., metro, light rail, city buses, highway buses, ferries, and YouBike—will have their carbon reduction automatically calculated for each trip. Participants who accumulate a total carbon reduction of 10 kilograms during the campaign will earn one entry into the prize draw. This mechanism is designed to make daily commuting not only more convenient but also rewarding, thereby encouraging broader adoption of low-carbon transport options.
In addition, the campaign features digital bonus incentives. Members who purchase plans via QR code options or through the iPASS MONEY app during the campaign period will receive an additional prize draw entry, increasing their chances of winning. Through this initiative, MeNGo aims to integrate smart ticketing with sustainability concepts, enabling citizens to easily practice environmentally friendly behaviors in their daily commutes, foster green mobility habits, and jointly build a low-carbon and sustainable urban environment. Further details and prize information will be announced on the Transportation Bureau’s official Facebook page.
