An AIoT-centered next-generation Intelligent Transportation System has been applied to monitoring operations during large-scale events in 2025, including the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Kaohsiung Winter Playground, the “All the Way East” charity concert, and major concerts such as Maroon 5, Accusefive, and KT POP. The system enables rapid situational awareness of MRT, LRT, shuttle bus operations, as well as on-site crowd ingress and egress conditions, allowing for the timely activation or deactivation of phased traffic control measures. As a result, transportation dispersal efficiency has been enhanced, surrounding traffic has returned to normal more quickly, and overall clearance time has been reduced.
The City Government continues to actively promote smart transportation development by leveraging big data and real-time data processing technologies. Through technology-driven and innovative systems, real-time traffic information is provided to road users, achieving smarter and more convenient urban mobility. Technologies such as traffic prediction, coordinated control software, digital twins, and smart road digitization have been introduced. Based on big data analysis and integrated operational needs, corresponding automatic incident response mechanisms have been established to strengthen the City’s intelligent traffic control and management capabilities. Furthermore, through collaboration with navigation service providers, value-added event data generated by the City’s intelligent transportation system, as well as traffic guidance information intended for public release, are exchanged via navigation platforms and presented directly on end users’ in-vehicle navigation interfaces, thereby enhancing the City’s capacity for traffic management and public information dissemination.
Planning continues for the 2025 Intelligent Transportation System optimization and expansion program. Building upon the existing intelligent transportation system framework, advanced smart transportation technologies will be integrated to optimize and expand system resources and functionalities, enhance operational efficiency, and further automate and intelligentize system operations. These efforts aim to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of traffic issue mitigation across the city.
