Transportation Bureau Adjusts Signal Timings on Longde New Road to Enhance Traffic Efficiency
[Kaohsiung News] In efforts to ease traffic congestion on Dashun Road due to the final phase of the Circular Light Rail project, the Kaohsiung Transportation Bureau inaugurated the eastern extension of Longde New Road to Minzu Road on July 4th. Initially, longer traffic signal cycles were implemented. However, after closely monitoring road conditions and signal coordination for two days, the Bureau swiftly adjusted to shorter signal cycles. Peak and off-peak cycles were set at 90 seconds and 75 seconds, respectively. This adjustment significantly reduces waiting times at the Heti South Road intersection to just 50 seconds, marking a significant 57% reduction in wait times. The revised cycles were fully implemented by July 6th.
The Transportation Bureau emphasizes that major intersections along Longde New Road are equipped with 24-hour surveillance cameras to monitor traffic conditions continuously. Citizens are encouraged to utilize this route for shopping at Costco and E Sky Land following its opening. Additionally, west-to-east traffic heading north towards Minzu Road can now take advantage of the improved traffic flow on Longde New Road. The Bureau remains committed to monitoring traffic patterns closely and adjusting signal controls as needed to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.
