Skip the Line! Buy the Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung TPASS Directly on Your Phone!
[Kaohsiung News] The Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung TPASS monthly commuter pass, issued through the MeNGo platform, has seen a sales growth of nearly seven times since its launch in late April 2023. To offer members a more convenient way to purchase tickets, the Kaohsiung City Government’s Transportation Bureau has partnered with iPASS Corporation. Starting today, users can download the iPASS MONEY app, allowing members with physical cards to tap their TPASS card on their phone to purchase or renew the monthly pass, eliminating the need to visit convenience stores or MRT stations, saving both time and hassle.
According to the Transportation Bureau, about 40% of Kaohsiung's TPASS commuters currently use the mobile QR code option for direct access to public transportation. For those who prefer physical cards, this collaboration with iPASS Corporation now offers a streamlined purchase process via the iPASS MONEY app. With just a smartphone, users can complete the purchase and card validation process. Additionally, MeNGo members can access personalized services through the platform, such as checking public transportation ride records, carbon reduction data, and card transaction history. More diverse monthly pass plans and cross-industry marketing collaboration plans will also be introduced in the future.
The Transportation Bureau further noted that the iPASS MONEY app’s “NFC Card Sensing” function is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The new features include renewing existing plans, purchasing new Kaohsiung-Tainan-Pingtung TPASS options, and ticket refunds. This will save commuters a significant amount of time. iPASS Corporation recommends that users register for the iPASS MONEY app in advance and enable the auto-top up function linked to their iPASS card, allowing for seamless monthly pass purchases moving forward.
Furthermore, to encourage users to try out the new feature, from now until December 31, 2024, members who purchase their TPASS monthly pass via the iPASS MONEY app will receive a NT$10 cashback for each purchase (cashback will be transferred to the iPASS MONEY e-wallet account by the 15th of the following month, and members must complete registration for their e-wallet account by the end of the month in which the pass is activated).
