Paying for parking with a mobile payment app is quick, convenient, and now comes with added rewards. To promote the use of mobile payment apps for on-street parking fee payment, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government launched a promotional campaign offering 50% discount for new users and prize draws starting in April. Over 250,000 residents have already participated enthusiastically. In response to public demand and to encourage more users to experience the benefits of digital payment, the Bureau has announced that the campaign, originally scheduled to end in May, will be extended through June 30, 2025.
The Transportation Bureau stated that as long as payment is made within the designated period (within 14 days after the parking date), users can enjoy discounts through any of the 11 partnered mobile payment apps, including iPASS MONEY, Pi Wallet, JKOPay, O'Pay, Far EasTone Heart Life, CarPlus, Parking Lot APP, uTagGo, Easy Wallet, GAMA Pay, and PX Pay. New users will receive a 50% discount, while existing users will receive a 5% discount. Each successful payment earns one entry into a prize draw featuring various attractive prizes such as iRobot vacuum cleaners and Electrolux air purifiers, offering the combined benefits of convenience, cost savings, and environmental sustainability.
Kaohsiung City continues to advance its smart parking infrastructure. Recently, an additional 684 smart parking spaces have been installed around the Sinkujiang shopping district, MRT Formosa Boulevard Station on the Orange Line, and MRT Cianjin Station. To date, a total of 7,049 smart parking spaces have been established across the city. This initiative is expected to save up to 10.52 million paper tickets annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 13 metric tons, thus supporting the city’s sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
Vehicles parked in smart parking spaces can have their fees paid via the aforementioned 11 mobile payment apps 15 minutes after departure, eliminating the need to revisit convenience stores for payment and enabling users to enjoy discounts. The Transportation Bureau emphasized that mobile payment apps not only allow real-time inquiry and payment, but also send push notifications as payment reminders to help users avoid late fees. Once payment is completed, the system updates immediately, preventing duplicate payments.
The Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government once again encourages the public to make full use of mobile payment apps to simplify daily life through smart technology. The discount and prize draw campaign has been extended to June 30, 2025. Citizens are invited to participate actively, enjoy discounts, win great prizes, and contribute to environmental protection.
