To enhance the convenience of paying on-street parking fees, the Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government has partnered with 11 mobile payment service providers to encourage the public to use mobile payment for fee settlement. From April to May, those who pay on time via designated mobile payment apps can enjoy a 50% discount for new users and a 5% discount for existing users. Participants will also have the chance to win various prizes such as robot vacuum cleaners and air purifiers.
The Transportation Bureau noted that Kaohsiung City continues to expand its smart parking infrastructure. In February 2025, an additional 1,270 smart parking spaces were installed in areas such as the Pier-2 Art Center, Hanshin Department Store, Houyi Commercial District, Jiouru 1st Road and Jiouru 2nd Road, Yihua Road, Yangming Road, and Dachang 2nd Road. This brings the city’s total number of smart parking spaces to 6,365. The system saves approximately 9.28 million paper parking slips annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by an estimated 11.7 metric tons.
When vehicles are parked in smart parking spaces, users can pay via any of the 11 mobile payment apps 15 minutes after leaving the parking space. These apps include iPASS MONEY, Pi Wallet, JKOPay, O'Pay, Far EasTone Digital Life, CarPlus, Parking Lot Hero, uTagGo, Easy Wallet, GAMA Pay, and PX Pay. Users no longer need to visit a convenience store to reprint payment slips, and they can enjoy the offered discounts. Alternatively, payments can be made through automatic deductions by linking with Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection (eTag), telecom providers, or financial institutions.
The Transportation Bureau further explained that mobile payment apps can send push notifications to remind users of upcoming parking payment deadlines, helping to avoid overdue penalties. These apps also provide real-time query and payment functions, allowing users to pay anytime, anywhere. Once payment is made, the system updates immediately, ensuring that users do not pay twice for the same parking session.
The Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City encourages citizens to utilize mobile payments for parking fees and is launching a promotional campaign. From April to May, users who pay via mobile payment apps during the designated payment period can enjoy a 50% discount for new users and a 5% discount for existing users, with the added chance to win great prizes such as iRobot vacuum cleaners, Electrolux air purifiers, and more.
