The Transportation Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government, in collaboration with Kaohsiung Bus and the Kaohsiung Music Center, is launching an exclusive “Mother’s Day Double-Decker Bus Tour Package.” This nostalgic one-day journey features a retro-themed bus, celebrity companionship, scenic guided tours, an exquisite afternoon tea, and a classic Sapphire Cabaret performance—an experience filled with joyful memories and delightful surprises! Transportation Bureau Director-General Chang Shu-chuan stated that this event, themed “Nostalgic Kaohsiung: A Journey into Memory,” aligns with the goals of energy conservation and carbon reduction by encouraging the use of public transportation. The double-decker bus will connect Kaohsiung’s iconic landmarks and nostalgic locations while complementing the Kaohsiung Music Center’s "Sapphire Grand Show" concert. This journey into the city’s past promises to make this Mother’s Day truly unforgettable.
The itinerary begins at the Formosa Boulevard MRT Station—hailed as one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world—featuring the renowned “Dome of Light” public art installation by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata. Participants will then board a double-decker bus and, on May 10 and 11, will be accompanied respectively by Golden Melody Award-winning singer Tsao Ya-wen and beloved local star Wang Tsai-hua as they tour scenic urban and harbor attractions. The tour includes a refined afternoon tea at Pier-2 Warehouse, followed by a bus ride along Love River Bay to enjoy Kaohsiung’s coastal charm. The journey concludes at the Pier-2 Art Center, where participants may freely explore the Dagang Bridge and nearby cultural venues before walking to the Kaohsiung Music Center to attend the “2025 True Love Show: Sapphire Grand Cabaret,” featuring iconic golden-age performances and legendary stars—a glamorous celebration for mothers everywhere.
The Bureau further announced that, in addition to the remarkable itinerary, two nostalgic-themed buses—a double-decker and a Route 60 electric bus—will be decorated in vintage Kaohsiung cabaret style. With retro interior designs, passengers will feel transported to the heyday of stage shows. Real-time location updates for the Route 60 themed bus can be accessed via the “Kaohsiung iBus+” mobile app. All are welcome to hop aboard and immerse themselves in the retro charm.
