Kaohsiung Bus Driver Su Tzu-ting Treats Passengers Like Family Providing Patient and Heartwarming Service for Wheelchair Users

[Kaohsiung News] Kaohsiung City’s commitment to friendly and accessible public transportation was recently highlighted in a widely shared post on a popular travel and food Facebook page. The post praised bus driver Su Tzu-ting of Bus 168 for his exceptional patience and attentiveness in assisting an elderly wheelchair user. The author described the experience as deeply moving, noting that Su’s service was delivered with unwavering patience and without the slightest hint of frustration. Accompanied by a photo capturing the heartfelt moment, the post quickly resonated with netizens, who flooded the comments with messages such as, “This is so wholesome,” and “Kaohsiung’s bus drivers are generally very kind and deserve our encouragement and respect.” In response to the outpouring of appreciation, Director-General Chang Shu-juan of the Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau expressed gratitude for the public’s recognition of bus drivers and announced plans to formally commend Su Tzu-ting for his exemplary service

The viral Facebook post, shared by the page “kaohuifood” on February 6, recounted the author’s experience on Bus 168, describing how the driver not only followed traffic regulations and maintained smooth, steady driving without speeding or sudden braking.
The author was particularly moved by Su’s genuine courtesy to all passengers, but also the assistance he provided at the Cultural Center stop, where he took extra care to ensure a wheelchair-bound elderly passenger could exit the bus safely. After carefully parking the bus and unfastening the wheelchair’s safety straps, Su noticed that the passenger was still struggling to disembark. Without hesitation, he adjusted the bus’s position and patiently assisted the passenger—all while maintaining a calm and respectful demeanor.

Following an investigation by the Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau, it was confirmed that the driver in the viral post was Su Tzu-ting of Han-Cheng Bus Traffic Company Limited. On February 6, at approximately 10:08 AM, Su picked up the wheelchair-bound passenger at Guangdong 1st Street and assisted them in disembarking at the Kaohsiung Cultural Center (Heping 1st Road) at 10:20 AM. At 38 years old, Su Tzu-ting is the very first graduate of Han-Cheng Bus Company’s self-funded professional bus driver training program. Before joining the profession, he had no prior experience as a bus driver, but after completing his intensive training in late November 2024, he officially began driving routes. In less than three months, Su has already earned widespread recognition within Kaohsiung’s online community, becoming a frequent topic of discussion in local social media groups and blogs. His exceptional service has also led to a steady stream of customer compliments submitted directly to the company’s customer service hotline.

Despite the growing praise, Su remains humble, stating simply that he views his passengers with empathy, recognizing that one day, he too will grow old and may need assistance. This perspective motivates him to stand in their shoes and serve every passenger with patience, care, and respect. The Transportation Bureau has announced that it will request Han-Cheng Bus Company to provide a tangible reward for driver Su Tzu-ting in recognition of his patient and attentive service. The Transportation Bureau emphasized that Kaohsiung is home to many dedicated and compassionate bus drivers who go above and beyond for their passengers. The bureau encourages residents to express their appreciation by offering a simple smile when riding public buses. Passengers who encounter heartwarming acts of service are also invited to share their experiences on the official Facebook page of the Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau. By fostering a culture of gratitude and positivity, the city aims to enhance the overall public transportation experience and promote a more inclusive, friendly transit environment.
