The “staged pedestrian crossing” design has been introduced to guide pedestrians to cross roadways in segments by utilizing the central median, thereby reducing the risk associated with crossing multiple traffic lanes at once. A pilot implementation at the intersection of Guopi Road and Guoyong Road adjacent to Guopi Elementary School in Fongshan District has yielded favorable results.
