The Kaohsiung MRT has reached an average daily ridership of 172,400 passengers in 2016, representing a 4.5% growth from 2015. This is the first year its average daily ridership has broken through 170,000 passengers since starting its service. In 2016, its annual turnover was NT$2.23 billion, a 17.6% increase from 2015 and a profit of NT$74 million, achieving its goal of getting into surplus one year ahead of schedule.
