The Kaohsiung City Operating Guidelines for Traffic Maintenance Measures during Roadworks, which stipulate the review process as well as inspection and supervision of traffic maintenance measures, were established to reduce the impact of roadworks on traffic. The Comprehensive Evaluation Task Force of the Kaohsiung City Traffic Safety Supervisory Committee shall perform preliminary reviews on proposals and give recommendations as reference to Committee members. Relevant authorities shall also be invited to perform on-site investigations.
From January to the end of June 2014, the Kaohsiung City Traffic Safety Supervisory Committee convened six meetings and reviewed 25 cases. The Comprehensive Evaluation Task Force convened 13 meetings and reviewed 54 cases. In addition, traffic maintenance inspections were performed 22 times. The construction units were requested to make improvements by specific deadlines and personnel were assigned to reexamine and verify the improvement results. The goals are to reduce the impact of roadworks on traffic and ensure the safety of road users.
