Creating an Electric Bus Fleet

In order to promote the use of low-carbon, green public transit in the effort to create a sustainable city, work is ongoing to encourage and support operators that are converting their fleets to electric buses. The first fleet of electric intercity buses in Taiwan was established in 2013, with 11 low-floor electric buses running on the Cishan-Meinong freeway route.
In 2014, a subsidy was obtained from the Ministry of Economic Affairs for an intelligent green bus promotion program that would involve buses in the Kaohsiung-Pingtung area. Funds were used to purchase nine low-floor electric coach buses.
